Municipal engineering includes all of the civil
and environmental engineering services required to address the
complex infrastructure, environmental and land use issues facing
municipal governments. Acting as consultants and/or engineers, LHJ
provides general consultation to many municipalities throughout
Louisiana, the Southeast and Southwest regions of the United States
. Our assignments have included a wide variety of municipal projects
and services.

17th St.
Canal Breach Repairs & Interim Drainage Pumping Station
Location: Metairie, LA
Project Description:
LH&J was the prime engineering consultant for the Emergency Breach Closure,
Permanent Breach Repairs and Interim canal Closure and Drainage Pumping Station that were constructed at the
17th Street Canal as a result of damages caused by Hurricane Katrina. Each of these emergency projects required
innovative solutions and intensive collaboration with the Corps of Engineers and the limited available construction
contractors to develop repairs and improvements that could be designed and implemented on a fast-track basis. |

Boothville Sewage Treatment Plant
Location: Boothville, LA
Project Description:
The project was designed and constructed to add secondary treatment to
the existing primary sedimentation plant. The improvements consisted of two new secondary clarifiers,
a new Bio-Tower and pump station, a new anaerobic digester roof, a new electrical motor control center
and rehabilitation to the existing plant structures. |

Paving of Hoey's Canal
Location: Metairie, LA
Project Description:
This project was constructed to improve the hydraulic efficiency of
the Jefferson Parish Drainage system by diverting storm drainage flows to the Monticello Canal and
Pump Station No. 6. LH&J prepared conceptual hydraulic studies of various alternatives and performed
the engineering, design and construction observation of the selected option to construct a 25 feet wide
by 5 feet deep pile supported concrete flume with paced side slopes. |

Belle Chasse Sewage Treatment Plant
Location: Belle Chasse, LA
Project Description:
The project was designed and constructed to add secondary
treatment and expand the existing primary sedimentation plant. The improvements consisted
of a new primary clarifier, two new Bio-Towers and pump stations, two new secondary clarifiers,
new anaerobic digester roof, new maintenance building, new belt filter press and rehabilitation
to the existing plant structures.

Hollygrove Area Drainage Improvements
Location: New Orleans, LA
Project Description:
Under this SELA (Southeast Louisiana) Drainage Improvement project,
LH&J performed the engineering designs for construction of 7,700 feet of new covered box culverts
beneath the existing residential streets and reconstruction of the affected roadways and underground utilities.
Extensive planning and coordination were performed to minimize the impacts to the residents of this area while
the work was performed and the utilities were relocated and rebuilt.
