IHNC Safe House & Control Room

Location:  New Orleans, LA

Project Description:

LH&J performed all Architectural and Engineering Designs for the elevated Safe House and Control Room at the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway for the IHNC Surge Barrier. The Safe House is 32 feet above ground and is designed for 250 MPH winds. It provides facilities for on-site emergency personnel and back-up generators with controls to operate the IHNC Sector Gate under extreme storm conditions.

IHNC Dewatering Bulkheads

Location: New Orleans, LA

Project Description:

LH&J performed the complete design for these 150 foot long bulkheads that are constructed with steel truss members and steel plate faces. Each stackable bulkhead is 6 feet tall and weighs 160,000 pounds. These critical structural components are multi-functional and can be used for both routine dewatering of the IHNC Sector Gate Chamber and also as main line flood protection for storm surges up to 20 feet above normal water levels.

Complex Pile Foundations
